This time, Walmart has lost its status as the most affordable chain, according to a February survey from Consumer Reports, a non-profit that reports on consumer products. In fact, Walmart was used as the pricing baseline, with a number of supermarkets being more affordable than the big box store. The survey looked at which retailers and grocery stores were cheaper — and more expensive — than Walmart. The survey findings come as the U.S. Department of Agriculture released data showing that grocery prices will likely rise 2.5% in 2026.
