U.S. financial system, submitting applications to become a bank as regulatory attitudes toward fintech entrants have shifted under President Donald Trump. The company said it filed with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Utah Department of Financial Institutions to establish a Utah-chartered industrial loan company, to be known as PayPal Bank. If approved, the structure could enhance PayPal's ability to extend credit, building on more than $30 billion in loans and capital the company says it has helped provide to businesses since 2013.
