The three books were "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King," collectively "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien. "There are profound human truths that were written in those books," said Curl, who first read the books when he was in middle school. "I'll reference 'Lord of the Rings' things a lot, and I want them to understand what I'm saying."
