The California-based women's clothing brand was forced to shutter 151 locations nationwide, including 77 in the fourth quarter of last year. Torrid CEO Lisa Harper said in the March 19 report that the closures were the result of "deliberate strategic decisions" required to get the business back on a stronger footing. Torrid Holdings Inc. also launched five sub-brands and "fundamentally restructured" its product assortment to support the endeavor, she added. Torrid offers a diverse assortment of stylish apparel, intimates and accessories "skillfully designed" for the curvy woman. The brand opened its first store in April 2001. Clothing retailer Torrid closed over 100 "structurally unproductive" stores in 2025. While Torrid did not provide additional details about its strategy moving forward, including whether that would involve more closures, the company did note that "trends in Q4 and early Q1 give us confidence that the foundation we've built is beginning to take hold."
