In September, Minnesota's State Rapid Response Team received a letter from the Copenhagen-based maker of industrial vacuums and floor cleaners informing the agency of a permanent closure at its facility located at 9435 Winnetka Avenue North in Brooklyn Park. The closure will result in 105 employees at the facility being laid off, with the company's announcement saying layoffs would begin on Dec. 5. While the initial letter stated that all employees would be laid off by the end of June 2026, a revised letter now states the layoffs will be completed by May 1, 2026. The closure is part of Nilfisk's plan to end its U.S. manufacturing operations, with the manufacturing of three industrial machines being transferred to an existing plant in Querétaro, Mexico. The company says the changes are "designed to streamline operations, speed decision-making, improve time-to-market, and deliver a consistently superior customer experience."
