Whenever there’s a disruptive change to routine, there’s a lot of hit-and-miss solutions to adjust legacy processes. When airline flights resumed after 9/11, unlucky traveler stories abounded such as random confiscation of pens, nail clippers and keepsakes at security. Insufficient guidance and experience led airport security officials to make their own local interpretation of new safety measures, whether or not they made any sense.Following that, travelers may recall boarding gate checks, where the unlucky random few would be snatched out of line while literally walking onto the jetway.
