Global crude oil prices soared when Iran closed the vital Strait of Hormuz after the U.S. and Israel's joint attack in February, shooting above $100 from a regular $70 earlier this year. Despite being the world's largest producer of oil, the U.S. has not seen prices stabilize. At Nashville International Airport, the weekly U.S. average price of a barrel of jet fuel rose 64.8% over the last month's average as of March 13, according to a report from U.S. jet fuel information provider Platts. And prices are still rising.
