If you're setting out to fly somewhere for the holidays this year, you probably want to know how your airline is likely to perform. I'm sorry to say, we can't really tell you. In general, during the holidays (or really, any time of year), weather is the biggest factor in airline delays. If it's a quiet week for weather, you're likely going to have a smooth trip. But if a major storm blows across the country, it could lead to travel headaches – especially if it heavily impacts one of your airline's hubs. Still, you may be curious about how airlines did during the holidays last year. While the winter of 2024-25 was generally cold and snowy, the peak holiday travel period itself was fairly quiet, and as such, airlines performed pretty well. A snowstorm in the Northeast kicked off the holiday travel season on Dec. 20-21, and another blizzard hit the central U.S. on Jan. 5-6.
