Delta warns of choppy coronavirus recovery, working to halve cash burn (Reuters) - Delta Air Lines Inc ( DAL.N ) said on Wednesday it does not expect air travel to recover for two or three years and is working to halve its cash burn after posting its first quarterly loss in eight years due to the coronavirus pandemic.”We should be prepared for a choppy, sluggish recovery even after the virus is contained,” Chief Executive Ed Bastian said. A second wave of the coronavirus is expected to hit the United States next winter and could strike much harder than the first because it would likely arrive at the start of influenza season, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned on Tuesday. Current air travel is purely essential, Bastian said, and predicted that larger passenger volumes will not return until people perceive that it is safe to travel.
