Nevertheless, the mere possibility that the long-term-oriented Buffett has lost confidence in the airline industry (and this airline in particular) has understandably added to investors' worries.However, I continue to see Delta as one of the better-positioned airlines. Near-term bankruptcy risk is low, and the airline (unlike some of its peers) is likely to return to profitability next year, even though travel demand is expected to remain well below 2019 levels.
