The French dairy giant did not reveal financial details but called the investment in the Boucherville, Quebec plant its “largest” in Canada. The expansion will increase yogurt tub output at the plant by 40% and boost its raw milk processing capacity by 20%. Just Food has asked for further details. Construction is underway, with a new production line due to start operations next year, the company said in a statement on Friday (14 November). Danone is also looking to "modernise" the way the site uses energy. Frederic Guichard, the president of Danone's operations in Canada, said: “This significant investment underscores our commitment to supporting local production and delivering on what we do best at Danone: bringing health through food." More than one in three dairy yogurts sold in Canada are made at the site, Danone added.
