Officials say proposed airport could bring more jobs, money to Livingston Parish [Yahoo! Finance]

Delia Taylor is the chairwoman for the Livingston Parish Airplane District. She said the airport is for general aviation. It will be used by gliders, propeller planes, medium jets and corporate jets. It will not be used for commercial, scheduled flights. “In fact, the majority of the world's air traffic falls into this category but there are far more general aviation airports than there are what we consider to be commercial airports,” Taylor said. Taylor said general aviation airports bring economic growth. This is the top reason for bringing one to Livingston Parish. The average general aviation airport in Louisiana brings in about 420 jobs. It also brings in $14.1 million in payroll and has a $42 million total economic impact, according to Taylor.
