While a U.S. Supreme Court ruling has struck down President Donald Trump's broad tariffs, it quickly became clear that the trade uncertainty Iowa and U.S. farmers and manufacturers have experienced is unlikely to end. Some Iowa and national farm and business groups urged the president following the Friday, Feb. 20, ruling to pursue new trade deals rather than seek ways to reinstate tariffs on the country's biggest economic partners. But by mid-afternoon, Trump had taken to against the decision and announce he would pursue under a different legal authority "over and above our normal tariffs already being charged."
