Don't freak out, folks. Yes, Denny's did have a plan to shut down 150 restaurants this year, and sure a few have been in the headlines for shuttering since the company's announced $620 million planned buyout last month, but most of the closings have already taken place. And while some are shutting down, none of those closings are as a result of the announced acquisition plans, and there are even plans to open new restaurants across the coming year. “In 2024, Denny's announced its strategy to close approximately 150 underperforming restaurants by the end of 2025, which the brand has been doing over the course of the past year,” the company said in a statement to PennLive. “The majority of the locations impacted by this strategy have already closed.
