Shares of Domino's Pizza Inc. slumped 2% in premarket trading Thursday, after the pizza chain reported first-quarter profit and revenue that rose above expectations, but missed on U.S. same-store sales. Net income grew to $121.6 million, or $3.07 a share, from $92.7 million, or $2.20 a share, in the year-ago period, helped by a lower tax rate, higher royalty revenue from franchised stores and lower share counts from buybacks. The FactSet consensus was for earnings per share of $2.32. Total revenue rose to $873.1 million from $836.0 million to beat the FactSet consensus of $669.0 million, as the opening of 69 net new stores provided a boost. Same-store sales rose 1.6% in the U.S., missing the FactSet consensus of a 2.2% rise, while international sales growth of 1.5% matched expectations.
