According to TheFly, Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) submitted requests for updated rates at its two utilities in the state, Duke Energy Carolinas and Duke Energy Progress, to the North Carolina Utilities Commission on November 21. In the submission, Duke Energy Carolinas requests a $1 billion yearly revenue boost, which would include $727 million in 2027 and $275 million in 2028. This would be a rise of 15% above current revenues. The $729 million request for Duke Energy Progress includes $200 million in 2028 and $528 million in 2027, a 15.1% growth above current revenues. Subject to regulatory approval, the demands depend on a 53% equity capital structure and a proposed 10.95% return on equity. The expected advantages associated with nuclear production tax credits are also stated in the filing.
