As we approached Florida, the pilot announced that a shuttle launch was to happen shortly. If it was going to happen, he indicated that he would tilt the aircraft so that we could see the launch. Approximately 10 minutes later the pilot tilted the plane but all we could see were the contrails left in the sky. Still, it was exciting! There was a lot of cheering and excitement on the plane as most of us had never seen a launch. Upon arriving in Miami, the pilot informed us of the tragedy that had happened just after takeoff of the Challenger. Laughter and excitement turned to silence and crying. Everyone left that plane in tears. FLORIDA TODAY's recent article about the Challenger brought back some very vivid memories. Well done.
