People will have the opportunity to pay their respects to one of California's rock 'n' roll legends, the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, this weekend in his hometown of San Francisco. Weir, one of the founding members of the Grateful Dead died on Jan. 10 at the age of 78 from "underlying lung issues" after beating cancer, according to a post on his official Instagram page A free public memorial for Weir will be held in San Francisco on Saturday, Jan. 17, according to a press release "A short sacred stop on his homecoming journey, the gathering will center on gratitude, remembrance, and togetherness, along with special tributes to honor Bobby," the press release reads. "Together, we will pay tribute in the community and collective heartbeat that he created."
