Stock selloff deepens on virus fears, bond yields at record lows Global stocks, government bond yields and oil extended their declines, as anxiety over the spread of the coronavirus surges. The three main U.S. indexes all opened lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling to the so-called correction level of 10 per cent from its all-time high. The MSCI All-Country World Index fell for a sixth day, while the Stoxx Europe 600 also entered a correction. Goldman Sachs strategists wrote that they expect no profit growth for U.S. companies in 2020 as they update their earnings model to incorporate the likelihood that the virus becomes widespread. “The way the market is going down, it’s happening pretty quickly, but it’s very difficult to say that it’s over,” said Sameer Samana, senior global market strategist for Wells Fargo Investment Institute. “Bottoming is a multi-step process and you’re probably still in step one.” Haven assets continued to be in demand, and the yen strengthen
