A couple weeks later, he told the Detroit Free Press on March 13, after he returned from the trip, that he went to Australia to make a "multibillion-dollar decision" that included which vehicles will comprise Ford's future lineup and "all the other options" globally that the company will consider in the next decade. Farley's strategy will add revenue to the company, he said, and it will allow Ford to compete with and beat competitors, including the Chinese auto companies, worldwide in the future. "I am not only confident, I'm super excited about (the plan)," Farley said in an interview with the Free Press. "This is the first place we will face off with BYD and the Chinese.
