After months of dealing with aluminum shortages and tariffs that negatively impacted its bottom line, Ford finally reported some good news thanks to a strong first quarter earnings report, albeit with some interesting areas of revenue generation. The good news: Ford is expecting a $1.3 billion refund for tariffs paid that have since been ruled illegal. It's a positive development after Ford's appeal for temporary relief from aluminum tariffs was initially denied by the Trump administration as it struggled to source the metal in the wake of two fires at its main supplier last fall. The Novelis aluminum rolling plant in Oswego, New York, supplies much of the aluminum Ford uses for the F-150 and other vehicles. Vehicle production was impacted and Ford had to import aluminum from other countries, which made it subject to a 50 percent tariff.
