Despite the overall dip, sales for the Explorer SUV, Maverick pickup and Ranger pickup saw substantial increases. Ford Motor Co. reported its November U.S. sales declined slightly compared with the year-ago period, led mostly by a dive in electric vehicle sales. On Dec. 2, Ford reported it sold a total of 164,925 vehicles, down 0.9% from November 2024. Ford's sales of EVs plummeted to just 4,247 sold, a 61% decline from the year-ago period. Sales of SUVs came in 5% lower than in the year-ago period. Even sales of Ford's most popular vehicles — pickups — were essentially flat at 96,696 sold compared with November 2024 when it sold 96,724. But on a bright note: Explorer SUV sales soared by nearly 42% to 20,226 sold in the month. Sales of the Maverick pickup also rose by 43% to 9,883 sold and sales of the Ranger pickup rose 36% to 6,845 sold. The Transit van sales rose 17% to 15,339 sold.
