Ford CEO Jim Hackett presented the company's revitalization plan and new marketing positioning to dealers this week in Las Vegas. Ford Ford Motor Co ., facing a tough slog ahead as investors punish the iconic automaker’s shares, is transforming its marketing strategy from one aimed at casting the widest possible net and paying up to conquest buyers of competing brands to one of micro-targeting and relationship marketing aimed at keeping customers loyal one at a time. Ford shares are at a nine-year low while the rest of the stock market has been in a bull rally since 2009. CEO Jim Hackett , who took over for the ousted Mark Fields 17 months ago, is preaching a “Get Fit” strategy that has already moved Ford to cancel its unprofitable sedan/hatchback models like Focus, Fiesta, Taurus and Fusion, and will result in white-collar job cuts soon.
