HATTIESBURG, Miss.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The First Bancshares, Inc. (“FBMS” or “the Company”) (NASDAQ: FBMS), holding company for The First, A National Banking Association, (www.thefirstbank.com) reported today an increase of 8.9% in net income available to common shareholders for the quarter ended March 31, 2020.Highlights for the Quarter:On December 18, 2019, the Company announced the signing of an Agreement and Plan of Merger with Southwest Georgia Financial Corporation (“SGB”), parent company of Southwest Georgia Bank, headquartered in Moultrie, GA. During the quarter ended March 31, 2020, all regulatory and shareholder approvals were received. Subsequent to quarter end, the closing was effective April 3, 2020.Excluding loans acquired from acquisitions that closed in 2019, average loans increased $11.8 million, or 1.9% on an annualized basis for the sequential quarter comparison.Excluding deposits acquired from acquisitions that closed in 2019, average deposits increased $114.3 mi
