U.S. government bonds hold steady a day after Fed’s rate cut U.S. Treasury yields were virtually unchanged Thursday, a day after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates, with divisions within its rate-setting ranks, casting doubt on the Federal Open Market Committee’s appetite for quantitative easing and further interest-rate reductions. The perception that Wednesday’s Fed policy decision was hawkish was expected to lend some support to bond prices, nudging yields lower, but government bonds mostly tread water in the session. The 10-year Treasury note yield TMUBMUSD10Y, -0.43% was little changed to 1.777%. The 2-year note rate TMUBMUSD02Y, -0.68% , sensitive to shifting expectations for Fed policy, finished the session where it left off on Wednesday at 1.742%, while the 30-year bond yield TMUBMUSD30Y, -0.65% edged 0.1 basis point to 2.215%.
