Fiserv Inc.'s fourth quarter earnings were better than expected as company works to recover from a disastrous earnings report in October. The Milwaukee-based the financial tech provider on Feb. 10 reported adjusted earnings of $1.99 per share for the period ending Dec. 31. That's a 21% decline from $2.51 per share in the year-earlier period. But it beat the expected earnings mark of $1.90 per share, Reuters reported. Fiserv also reported adjusted revenue of $4.9 billion – flat compared to the year-earlier period. Fiserv in October announced third-quarter earnings that were well below expectations, leading to a 44% stock price plunge. That earnings miss was tied to unrealistic growth projections, cost-cutting that limited customer service deliveries, and relying on short-term initiatives that neglected building long-term relationships.
