After 15 years of blood, sweat, and tears, her company, Farmgirl Flowers , is now one of the most visible e-commerce floral companies, defining what beautiful bouquets and modern gifting look like. While working at Stanford Law School, where she managed events, Stembel saw firsthand how event flowers consumed a large portion of the budget and began to wonder what opportunities existed to improve that business model, especially with the rise of e-commerce at the time. Perhaps with a bit of what she concedes was naivete, she set out to launch Farmgirl Flowers with just $49,000.
