These stocks have the highest consensus expected ROE growth during the next 12 months. According to a U.S. Thematic Views report, GS analysts a strong economic growth in an annual average basis of 2.9% in 2024. Analysts reported that the S&P 500 ( SP500 ) trailing four-quarter ROE rose by 85 basis points to 20.8% last year, due to an expansion in EBIT margins and an increased asset turnover. The higher profits for the information technology sector ( XLK ) and the communication services sector ( XLC ) will support 39 basis points of net profit margin expansion for the S&P 500 ( SP500 ), analysts said. In addition, “stronger-than-expected economic growth represents the clearest upside risk to ROE,” wrote Analyst David J. Kostin. “[It] would create upside to asset turnover through faster sales growth and to profit margins through operating leverage.
