Cedar Fair sold its valuable California Great America property in the Silicon Valley to real estate developer Prologis in 2022, before it merged with Six Flags in 2024. California Great America announced it will close its gates permanently at the end of the 2027 amusement park season. Andretti Thrill Park closes down And now, another beloved family theme park, Andretti Thrill Park, which was co-founded by the late NASCAR driver John Andretti in 1999, has closed down permanently and will be redeveloped into an apartment complex with over 300 units, The Space Coast Rocket reported. The Melbourne, Fla.-based race car-themed thrill park's owner Eddie Hamann, who co-founded the theme park with Andretti, said economic issues were not the reason for closing the park, as it was performing well financially.
