takeover of freight forwarder Omni Logistics at a lower price than initially agreed upon. Schmitt had served as CEO of Forward Air since 2018. The trucking company named longtime company executive Michael Hance, currently Forward Air's chief legal officer and secretary, as interim CEO. Advertisement The company also elevated board member George Mayes to chairman, and added former Delta Air Lines Chief Operating Officer Gil West and Timucuan Chief Investment Officer Christopher Schmachtenberger to the board. Forward Air has formed a search committee to find its next CEO. The board has also formed an integration committee to work on the Omni deal. Last month, Forward Air and Omni reached a revised merger agreement that includes a lower price tag. The agreement came after Forward Air last year said it might look to drop the original deal after shareholder pushback. Omni then sued the company in a bid to force the closing of the deal.
