Over the past five years or so, these monies have become dispersed in many new ways because of the disruptions accompanying the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent recession. As a consequence, the working out of the economy over the next year or two may not be typical because of the unusual distribution of cash assets. However, the Federal Reserve should be able to achieve a smooth adjustment of the economy during this time. I have been writing steadily about the huge amount of money that is available in the U.S. economy. During the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent recession, the Federal Reserve pumped trillions of dollars into the banking system. These monies showed up all over the place. Where is all this money? What's going on? The founders and top executives of the largest private equity groups in the US have seen the value of their shares rise by more than $40bn since the beginning of 2023 as new assets have poured into their firms.
