OpenAI has finalized its third expansion in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood: The artificial intelligence pioneer and ChatGPT maker signed a deal last month to sublease roughly 280,000 square feet of office space at the former Dropbox headquarters complex. The deal's February completion at 1800 Owens St., known as The Exchange, was first reported in a March market report by real estate brokerage Newmark. The Chronicle reported earlier this year that OpenAI was evaluating the space, but was also considering a possible expansion nearby at 455 Mission Bay Blvd The Owens Street office brings OpenAI's total office footprint in San Francisco to over 1 million square feet - with all of it in Mission Bay.
