The shares have been halted “precautionarily” ahead of the disclosure by Naturgy shareholders of relevant information, the regulator CNMV said Tuesday. The suspension comes after Naturgy's largest shareholder, Spanish industrial holding Criteria Caixa SA, said on Tuesday that it's holding preliminary talks with an investor group seeking to take a stake in the company. According to local news reports, Criteria is seeking to broker a deal to bring in a new investor. The deal would seek to end long-standing tensions between Naturgy's four largest shareholders, who jointly control about 83% of the company. The potential buyer is also in contact with other investors, Criteria said Tuesday. Two buyout firms, Global Infrastructure Partners and CVC Capital Partners, own about 21% each of Naturgy, while infrastructure fund IFM owns about 15%.
