Energy Information Administration. The average fuel price in the Midwest region rose about 4 cents since last month. According to the EIA, gas prices across the region in the last year have been as low as $2.58 on Jan. 5, 2026, and as high as $3.10 on April 7, 2025. A year ago, the average gas price in the Midwest region was 11% higher at $2.98 per gallon. The average national gas price is slightly higher than last week's average of $2.78 per gallon.
