, less than 2% - or fewer than 10 - of the confirmed cases are estimated to be actively infectious since their rash onset date was less than a week ago. So far, two unvaccinated school-aged children have died, along with 64 individuals having been hospitalized so far throughout the outbreak. Once again, DSHS is warning that, due to the highly contagious nature of this disease, additional cases are likely to occur in the outbreak area and its surrounding communities. As of April 22, Cochran, Dallam, Dawson, Gaines, Garza, Lynn, Lamar, Lubbock, Terry and Yoakum counties have all been designated as outbreak counties with ongoing measles transmission by DSHS.
