Dec. 19, 2025, 6:01 a.m. ET Maybe it's just me, but 2025 felt like a never-ending onslaught of news – and at times, it was hard to catch my breath. From all things Trump administration to pop culture moments (remember when everyone discovered " Love Island "? Or when Taylor Swift got engaged ?) to the destruction of the Los Angeles wildfires , the deadly flooding in Texas Hill Country and everything in between. As I recover from the year that was, I'm looking ahead to 2026 and all that comes with it: Midterm elections and more seemingly endless news cycles, sure, but also the Winter Olympics, a World Cup played out across the Americas and the 250th anniversary of the United States. The only thing I know for certain is that nothing is certain. Will Russia's war with Ukraine finally end? Will inflation ratchet upward? Are we heading toward a recession ?
