They said the aerospace and defense company is poised for gains as its Gulfstream business-jet unit drives profits. “Our Buy rating is based on top- and bottom-line momentum at Gulfstream with new jets entering service, low bar for Defense growth despite leverage to areas of growing demand and portfolio optionality with technologies potentially worth $18 billion and 70 basis points accretive to segment margin,” Sheila Kahyaoglu, analyst at Jefferies, said in an April 28 report. Gulfstream on March 29 received certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for the G700 business jet, giving the company a way to expand its profit margin with higher plane deliveries and lower research-and-development costs, the Jefferies report said. “A significant portion of the demand today is fleet replenishment for corporations,” according to Jefferies, which forecasts that 50 of the G700 model will be delivered while total business-jet deliveries will hit 160 in 2024.
