The funds will be used to add and upgrade machines, add inspection equipment and make building improvements, according to the company. GE Aerospace is also committed to hiring more than 5,000 additional workers nationwide. This marks the second year that the company has invested more than $1 billion in its nationwide manufacturing and supplier base. This manufacturing investment is in addition to the nearly $3 billion GE Aerospace invests annually in research and development, according to the company. The Hooksett facility is used to produce components for LEAP jet engines for both narrowbody and widebody aircraft, along with military fighter jets, helicopters and ships, according to a news release. Over the course of the past three years, GE Aerospace has announced plans for more than $35 million to be invested in the Granite State.
