He boasted repeatedly about an economy he said had delivered lower prices and bigger paychecks since he returned to the White House. The president claimed prescription drug prices in the United States are now the lowest in the world, that job creation and manufacturing are on the rise, that inflation is falling fast and that the overall economy is booming. The real economic picture, however, is gloomier than Trump made it out to be.
