Summary So far, the month of November has been a busy one for General Electric ( GE ). After new top management, namely CEO Larry Culp, came to control the business a couple weeks prior to the firm’s third quarter earnings release, the company has started a wave of transactions aimed at simplifying the business and repositioning it to operate more efficiently for investors in the long run. Given the conglomerate’s historical performance over the past couple of years now, this isn’t just wanted or warranted, it’s required. Through these transactions, we have seen some interesting moves by the firm, but at the same time there's also some criticism owed to management that's likely weighing down some on these small but vital “hopeful wins” for the firm. Some sales from GE Capital One of many complaints I have had of General Electric this past year is that management needs to do away with most of its GE Capital segment.
