Co.'s ( NYSE:BA ) 787 Dreamliner, as the company moves into active sales mode with its upgraded Trent 1000 XE engine. Speaking at the Singapore Airshow, civil aerospace chief Rob Watson said Rolls-Royce believes it could win back customers and possibly secure new deals after years in which most Dreamliner buyers favored a competing engine from GE Aerospace. The Trent 1000 XE, which has been in production since the second half of last year, is positioned as offering improved durability, although Watson said it is still too early to determine whether the engine is exceeding all of its performance targets.
