On Friday, President Trump visited Phoenix to speak at a Turning Point USA event aimed at boosting support for Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterm elections Speaking from the stage of Dream City Church, he praised Erika Kirk, CEO of Turning Point USA, for her strength after the September assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk , and wrapped up his speech with orders that are a political imperative for him in 2027: “Win those midterms, Arizona.” Following hurdles in negotiations with Iran last week, Iranian officials declared the Strait of Hormuz “completely open” on Friday , in line with a ceasefire in Lebanon . The announcement temporarily pushed oil prices lower and eased some inflation concerns.
