Talks between Alex Palou and McLaren Racing began in late-2021 around the time of his first championship. Arrow McLaren struck an option deal with Christian Lundgaard for 2025 while he still had a year left at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Arrow McLaren's pursuit of Nolan Siegel began well before famous Road America race weekend. It was an international legal battle nearly four years in the making, and it's not even quite over yet. Last month, a judge in the U.K.'s commercial court in damages due to four-time champion driver 's breach of contract dating back to the summer of 2023, where 10 months after signing a multi-year deal with McLaren, Palou reneged and opted to remain at Chip Ganassi Racing for the foreseeable future.
