General Motors ( NYSE:GM ) shares rose 4.61% intraday after the company announced that it has begun supervised public road testing of its next-generationautomated driving technology on limited-access highways in California and Michigan, with trained safety drivers capable of taking manual control at any time. More than 200 development vehicles will soon operate in live traffic environments. The program targets an eyes-off system, meaning drivers can take their eyes off the road while the vehicle handles driving, with a first commercial deployment planned for the 2028 Cadillac Escalade IQ, followed by additional gas and EV across the lineup.
