With the $830 million, GM said it has invested more than $6 billion in onshoring and other manufacturing in the United States in the past year. The latest round of money is going to plants in Romulus, Saginaw and Toledo. “This $830 million investment is another clear signal of our commitment to these facilities, the exceptional people who work here and the customers who depend on the products we build every day," said GM global manufacturing Senior Vice President Mike Trevorrow in a statement. About $300 million is going to Romulus Propulsion Systems to increase 10-speed transmission production for next generation full-size trucks and SUVs. GM put $300 million into the plant late last year. Saginaw Metal Casting Operations is getting $150 million to hike head casting volume for Gen 6 engines for full-size pickup trucks and Corvettes.
