An interview with President Donald Trump dominated the live broadcast of the "CBS Evening News" from Detroit on Tuesday, Jan. 13. But a smaller moment hinted at the efforts of anchor Tony Dokoupil to make an impression in his brand-new role. Trump told Dokoupil during an unedited, nearly 13-minute-long interview that grew testy at times that if former Vice President Kamala Harris had won the presidential election in 2024, "you probably wouldn't have a job right now." A few minutes later, as the conversation ended, Dokoupil got in a belated rejoinder by saying, "I do think I'd have this job even if the other guys won." Replied Trump, "Yeah, but at a lesser salary." Dokoupil interviewed Trump at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant, where the F-150 pickup truck is made.
