Nearly 150,000 generators sold at stores like Home Depot and Lowe's are being recalled for posing a deadly fire hazard. According to an April 16 warning from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), 149,400 Generac-branded portable generators sold nationwide are at risk of leaking gasoline while being filled, creating a significant fire and burn risk. Generac has received 114 reports of generator fuel leaks related to the products, none of which resulted in injury. The generators were sold at Home Depot, Lowe's and other hardware stores across the United States from May 2025 through February 2026 for $600 to $1,300, according to CPSC.
