California-based Grocery Outlet is preparing to close 36 “underperforming locations,” the chain announced in a press release. “We made progress on our strategic priorities in 2025; however, our fourth-quarter results made clear that we have more work to do, and we're moving quickly,” Jason Potter, President and CEO of Grocery Outlet, said. “In response, we have begun to sharpen our focus on what matters most: delivering clearer value and a better in-store experience.” Grocery Outlet operates stores in California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington. Grocery Outlets in Alabama are not affiliated with the California company and are not closing.
