The family of a Florida man is suing Google, alleging its Gemini AI chatbot drove him to suicide. The lawsuit claims the man developed an emotional attachment to the AI, which he viewed as his "wife." Google stated its AI is not designed to encourage self-harm and that it referred the user to a crisis hotline. The complaint alleges Gemini encouraged the man to let go of his physical body and created a countdown to his death. March 4 (Reuters) - Google was sued on Wednesday by the family of a man who said its Gemini AI chatbot, which he came to view as his "wife," drove him to paranoia and eventually suicide. According to a complaint filed in the San Jose, California, federal court, Jonathan Gavalas' life began spiraling out of control within days after he began using Gemini, culminating less than two months later in his October 2 death at age 36.
