Blair, formerly the Synovus CEO, discussed the impact the merger would have on Columbus, the only home Synovus and CB&T have known for more than a century. “A lot of our tech and operations area that we're using for the combined company will remain here in Columbus,” Blair said. “And those 850 jobs that are here today, I would commit to you, there are going to be over 800 jobs, staying here in Columbus.” There has been concern about potential job losses since the merger between Synovus and Pinnacle was announced last summer. Part of that concern is because the holding company will be headquartered in Atlanta. The bank operations will be headquartered in Tennessee. “Atlanta and Nashville are our two largest markets for the combined company,” Blair said. “Nashville will be the bank headquarters.
